Fergie’s £15,000 pa was a lousy settlement
Rhoda was set up in a lucrative catering business by her ex’s family as a divorce settlement and has done very well, despite being wounded by a sham of a marriage to a closet gay, and she feels a fair bit of sympathy for Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, whose divorce settlement apparently amounted to a paltry £15,000 a year – hardly enough to keep up the appearances necessary for the mother of the Queen’s grand-daughters – resulting in her current demise.
“To her credit, Fergie did manage to carve out a career for herself at Weightwatchers and Wedgwood China, and made some money writing children’s books and doing some public speaking,” says Rhoda, “but because she wanted to retain the lavish lifestyle of royalty there was no way that she could finance this on her earnings alone, especially when the bloom of youth wore off, and Buckingham Palace should have seen trouble coming and done something to avert it.”
“My ex’s family helped to set me up in my niche catering business as a means, I suppose, of shutting me up and keeping me busy, and it worked,” confesses Rhoda. “I have huge responsibilities running my business; I don’t have time to gad about like Fergie does; and I don’t have to worry about money because they see to it that all of their wealthy associates patronize me.”
“Had the Royal Family been smart, they would have similarly set up Fergie in a home and business of her own, with strict financial advisors (rather than the toe-sucking variety) and kept her, and them, out of future trouble.”
“It’s well known that Fergie was very wounded by the paltry divorce settlement she received in comparison with Princess Diana’s massive payout,” says Rhoda, “and although she was deemed the guilty party in the divorce, it was very bad form and very shortsighted of the Royal Family to brush her off with to a paltry £15,000 a year.”
“Bearing in mind that Fergie has kept mum about the details of her failed marriage with Prince Andrew – and his subsequent unusual bachelor lifestyle,” confides Rhoda, “she holds the trump card if the Royal Family turn their back on her after her recent indiscretions trying to make money introducing businessmen to him.”
“Will the Royal Family pay off her debts, or risk another scandal?”
