Marriage or Emigration for Fergie?

In view of the scandals surrounding her at home, and the fact that she is widely accepted, if not loved, in the USA, Rhoda feels that if Prince Andrew does not offer Fergie – aka Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York – the prospect of re-marriage and a safe and respected place in British society then she should pack her bags and emigrate.

“Her daughters have grown up and are leading their own lives, her parents are dead and her sister, Jane Makim, lives in Australia,” says Rhoda, “so there is no reason why Fergie should remain in a country where she is hounded by the News of the World and snubbed by the only family she has left – the royal family.”

“As far as I know, Simon Cowell is the only Brit celebrity who has come out publicly to support Fergie in the current News of the World ‘cash for access to Andrew’ sting,” says Rhoda, “but just about everybody who’s anybody in the States has rallied around to support her.”

“Far from shunning her like the Brits have done for the naïve way she went about trying to make money off her royal connections,” laughs Rhoda, “the Americans, and the rest of the world it appears, have embraced her and increased rather than decreased her celebrity status.”

“Fergie is getting offers from all quarters – Donald Trump and now Oprah Winfrey – and with this sort of support why on earth would Fergie want to return to England to face ridicule, social ostracism and possibly tax evasion charges, too?”

“The best possible option for Fergie, if that’s what she wants, is to be reunited with Prince Andrew officially as his wife,” says Rhoda, “and failing that she should cut her losses, pack her bags and emigrate – give up her British citizenship completely and embrace the people who embrace her.”

“Everyone complains about getting the ‘wrong’ type of immigrant – people who don’t fit in and won’t fit in,” says Rhoda, “and Fergie is just the type of immigrant we should be out on the streets begging for!”

“Come on over, Fergie, if Andrew doesn’t want you then we do!”
